Earth Day was created to remind us of our shared responsibility to protect the planet. Earth Day is a day of equilibrium when differences are forgotten and all celebrate nature’s renewal. The name “Earth” was derived from the Anglo-Saxon word erda, which means ground or soil. It became eorthe in Old English, then erthe in Middle English.
The original equinoctial Earth Day was celebrated in most countries on the Vernal Equinox to mark the precise moment that spring begins in the Northern Hemisphere and autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. We learned about the Vernal Equinox in a previous blog yes?
The United Nations Earth Day ceremony continued each year on the day of the March equinox (20th or 21st), with the ringing of the U.N. Peace Bell at the very moment of the equinox. In fact, the U.S. Congress and President Ford proclaimed and urged observance of Earth Day on the March equinox.
In 1970, attendees of an Environmental Teach-In, decided to call their event on April 22nd Earth Day. The successes of that day led to it becoming a regular event.
The first Earth Day persuaded U.S. politicians that environmental legislation had a substantial perpetual following. Many important laws were passed by the Congress in the wake of the 1970 Earth Day, including the Clean Air Act, laws to protect drinking water, wild lands and the ocean. The current date chosen for Earth Day is coincident with the historical date of Arbor Day a national tree-planting holiday started in the late 1800’s. Arbor Day is celebrated on the birthday of its founder which is April 22nd.
Here is some remarkable information for you. The symbol for Earth Day is a green colored Greek letter theta on a white background. Although today, theta is drawn as a circle with a single line inside…in ancient days it was written as a circle with a cross inside. This gets better everyone… The current standard astronomical symbol of our Earth consists of a cross inside of a circle. Isn’t this fascinating?
The world is expected to continue supporting life for another 1.5 billion years, after which the rising luminosity of the Sun will eliminate the biosphere. The biosphere includes the regions of our Earth’s surface and its atmosphere where living things exist.
An important part of the atmosphere for life on Earth is the ozone layer, a component of the stratosphere that partially shields the surface from ultraviolet light.
Earth is a terrestrial planet, meaning that it is a rocky body, rather than a gas giant like Jupiter. It is the largest of the four solar terrestrial planets, both in terms of size and mass. Of these four planets(Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars), Earth also has the highest density, the highest surface gravity, the strongest magnetic field, and fastest rotation.
The abundance of water on our Earth’s surface is a unique feature that separates our “Blue Planet” from others in the Solar System.
About 71% of our Earth’s surface is covered with oceans, the remainder consists of continents and islands. We know that liquid water is necessary for all known life. About 97.5% of the water is saline or salt-water, while the other 2.5% is fresh water. But did you know that the majority of that fresh water is currently in the form of ice?
Our Earth also is the only terrestrial planet with active tectonics. The mechanically rigid outer layer of the Earth, the lithosphere, is broken into pieces called tectonic plates. Earthquakes, volcanic activity, mountain-building, and oceanic trench formation can occur along these plate boundaries. Isn’t this fascinating? Our Earth is constantly in motion, even at its surface. Not just moving in space.
And when we talk about SPACE, there is a real way to define it. So if anyone asks you where space begins, tell them that the dividing line between the Earth’s atmosphere and space is called the KARMAN line and it lies 100 km above our planet’s surface. So, the region higher than 100km is Space.

The Vernal Equinox
Spring has Sprung!
Spring is celebrated all over the world. The first day of Spring is also known as the Vernal Equinox. An Equinox occurs each year at two specific moments in time. One occurs around March 20/21 and is known as the VERNAL or Spring EQUINOX which is where we are right now, and the other occurs around September 22/23 and is known as the AUTUMNAL or Fall EQUINOX.
An Equinox occurs when the tilt of the Earth’s axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun, and the Sun is vertically above a point on the Equator when the center of the Sun spends roughly an equal amount of time above and below the horizon at every location on the Earth. The word EQUINOX is derived from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night), so we have the translation as EQUAL NIGHTS because around this moment in the calendar the night and day are approximately equally long.
In reality, the day is longer than the night at an Equinox, the day lasts about 14 minutes longer than the night at the Equator and longer still towards the Poles. Commonly, the day is defined as the period when sunlight reaches the ground in the absence of local obstacles. But since, from the Earth, the Sun appears as a disc rather than a single point of light, when the center of the Sun is below the horizon, its upper edge is visible.
For most locations on Earth, there are two distinct identifiable days per year when the length of day and night are closest to being equal; those days are commonly referred to as the “equiluxes” and different from the Equinoxes. Equiluxes occur during the days where sunrise and sunset are closest to being exactly 12 hours apart.
Equinoxes refer to points in time, but equiluxes refer to days. The occurrences of Equinoxes are not fixed, but fall about six hours later every year, totaling one full day or 24 hours in four years. They are reset by the occurrence of a leap year. Isn’t that interesting?
It is said that on the day of an Equinox, the Sun rises everywhere on Earth (except the Poles) at 06:00 in the morning and sets at 18:00 in the evening (local time). These times are not exact however, because the Sun is much more massive than the Earth, so more than half of the Earth could be in sunlight at any one time.
In Astrology, the Vernal (Spring) Equinox is the time in March when the Sun reaches this balancing point in its path through the zodiac. It marks the beginning of the new astrological year, as the Sun enters the first degree of Aries, the Ram. Aries is ruled by Mars. The ancient Roman festivals of the Equinox revolved around the planet Mars (hence the name of the month “March”). Aries is the sign of the exaltation of the Sun, for it marks the time when the days of light begin to surpass or outnumber the nights of darkness.
The Jewish Passover always falls on the full moon following the first New Moon after the Northern Hemisphere Vernal Equinox.
The Christian churches calculate Easter as the first Sunday after the first Full Moon on or after the March Equinox. The earliest possible Easter date in any year is therefore March 22 on each calendar.
An Equinox is more than just a moment in timeā¦it can cause the temporary disruption of communications satellites. There are a few days near the equinox when the sun goes directly behind the satellites that are hovering near to Earth, for a short period each day. The Sun’s immense power and broad radiation spectrum overload the satellites ‘reception circuits with noise and, depending on antenna size and other factors, can temporarily disrupt or degrade the circuit. The duration of those effects varies but can range from a few minutes to an hour. Here in the states we have been experiencing power failures, appliances that burn out, even my microwave just died yesterday. The Sun is very powerful yes?
A modern folk-tale claims that on an Equinox day, you can balance an egg on its point. However, I was amazed to discover that all of us can balance an egg on its point any day of the year…if we have enough patience. Happy Spring to you!
Respiration
Always remember that your career/mission in life has a ‘life’ of its own. It contracts and expands just like the Universe. Inhaling with moments of scarcity and hesitation and Exhaling with success and abundance. Breathe In…Breathe OUT! And So It Goes
Grateful
I sat at a red light in my car today, watching the snow fall like a magical hypnotic gentle blanket and felt so GRATEFUL. Join Me? Take a moment to find something to be grateful for. Even though life is hard, there is magic in the moments between the struggles. Find it, embrace it and live it, if even for just a moment in time. Breathe….

Introducing the Newest Cherub on my Site!
Hello~just sharing the creative talents of my daughter! Tell her I sent you.
The Truth….
I don't always take the opportunity to blog as often as I probably should but while speaking with a dear friend, something very powerful and important was impressed upon me. And I want to share it with all of you my wonderful friends. It is really very simple and it is a great way to help us all determine whether we are working with "the Divine Source" or not.
When you apply your personal Truth to your work with others…and keeping in mind that your Truth as you know it, may be different from someone else's…it is the RESULT of your work that holds the proof. If the work you do every day…results in someone feeling empowered, someone being healed, someone laughing for the first time in a long time, someone being released from a burden….it is then and ONLY then my dear ones..that you can be sure, your TRUTH is coming from the DIVINE Source.
Spirit speaks to all of us in our own subconcious language yes? And my language may be different from yours. But as long as the SOURCE of that Truth is the same…then we are on the same path. The soul's true purpose while we are here is to "improve the Human Condition" (producing results like empowerment, joy, healing and/or release). So we can all go forward knowing that just because our Truth is not the same as someone else's…that it is okay, as long as we are receiving what we 'feel we know'…from the right place. Ammmmmmmmmmmmmmen!
REIKI HEALERS
REIKI HEALING AND HOW IT WORKS
BY MISS BONNIE
Many light workers in the 'Holistic Field' are familiar with REIKI.
And yet many of those who could benefit greatly from it, are
not aware of its presence and potential. REIKI is a sacred
Healing Art that originated in Tibet and was re-discovered by Mikao Usui in Japan.
It is a wonderful healing process by which the Healer has
the honor of channeling the "Christ/Buddhic energy and
the Healee receives this wonderful comfort on a Soul Level.
The effects on the Soul level then transmit to the Physical Body
and the Mind and that's where the magic truly happens!
We all need a "Big Hug" from the Creator every now and then.
REIKI hugs you through and through. It also gathers up any
toxins in the body…which is why a certified Reiki Healer will advise
you to drink LOTS OF WATER after the process. We as healers
can only facilitate the 'gathering up of these toxins'…it then
becomes your job to literally 'flush them out'. It is only by 'getting out of the way, that we allow Spirit to work thru us. Avoid those people who claim to heal others….they are ego-based and not of the Light.
To come for REIKI is a private decision made by you and only when you are ready. You can expect a wonderful, uplifting experience. No two people have ever reported the same thing…it's personal and
you receive and experience 'what your Soul & Body need' at the time.
